Position Scope

Site: Kearl

Shift: 14x14 - 12 hours

Flights: Provided to and from Calgary or Edmonton

Accommodations: Camp Provided


  • Ensure working Trainers (coaches) are delivering Operations training as per NACG standards.
  • Ensure all applicable personnel on the assigned site, complete the applicable theory modules in the NACG Operations training programs, at the appropriate time.
  • Ensure operators do not violate the perameters of VIMS.
  • Deliver the NACG Operator training program to all applicable personnel on the assigned site.
  • Train, utilize, and support the working trainers (coaches) for the delivery of the NACG training programs to NACG standards.
  • Conduct applicable Evaluations as required.
  • Update crew designations weekly where applicable.
  • Submit weekly reports on-time and complete, as requested.
  • Utilize the LMS for theory delivery, record keeping, and training reports.
  • Meet the training requirements of the site Superintendent, who is the client.
  • Follow-up with operators ASAP on unwanted VIMS reports.
  • Coordinate, deliver and record keep for the mine drive training on applicable sites.


  • 7 years operating experience on mechanical and electric haul trucks in a mining environment
  • 1+ years' operational crew coaching, Lead Hand or supervisory experience, or a combination of all three types of experience
  • Experience with training adults.
  • Experience with program development.
  • Experience with computer software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good public speaking skills


All successful candidates must:

  1. Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  2. Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  3. Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  4. Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  5. Disclose COVID-19 vaccination status:
    • Fully immunized individuals must provide government issued proof of vaccination to be exempt from site testing requirements
    • Individuals not fully immunized may be subject to site COVID-19 testing requirements and associated costs
  6. Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
    • Breath Alcohol Test
    • Urine Drug Test
    • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
    • Audiometric Testing
    • Vision Screening


Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.


All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

  1. CSO Certification
  2. CSTS Certification
  3. Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  4. Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
  5. VOID cheque/direct deposit form
