Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

 

 

Union Recruitment Strategy Support & Workforce Planning

  • Participate in the development and implementation of innovative recruitment strategies.
  • Prepare recruitment status reports for Superintendents to assist with their workforce planning.
  • Communicate with Superintendents and Managers regarding workforce requests (i.e. lists or name hires), keeping them informed at all stages of hiring and onboarding.
  • Communicate daily with the union representatives. Enforce the right to choose as outlined in the collective agreement, ensuring the most qualified candidates are quickly and efficiently sent to work.
  • Represent NACG at various in person hiring events including Indigenous community events.

 

Candidate Sourcing & Selection

  • Source qualified candidates to fill current and upcoming openings by determining best method(s) for recruiting.
  • Provide qualified candidate pool by sourcing, identifying and recruiting candidates to fill current and upcoming trade job openings.
  • Develop and maintain standardized job posting templates based on approved job descriptions.
  • Represent NACG at various in person hiring events including Indigenous community events.
  • Assist other members of the Recruitment team as asked with activities such as screening candidates, and interviewing.
  • Attend interviews as necessary.
  • Explain job duties/responsibilities, compensation and benefit programs, work schedule or special conditions, career and advancement opportunities and related information.
  • Make job offers to qualified individuals including the preparation of offer letters.
  • Ensure the overall candidate experience during the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process is a positive one.

 

Administrative & Team Support

  • Internal communications with departments such as training, IT, site administration, and maintenance.
  • Leverage the applicant tracking system (ATS) software to ensure efficiency in all recruitment, hiring, and onboarding practices.
  • Create and maintain electronic files and ensure proper documentation is being saved.
  • Assist the HR team with ad hoc reporting and special projects as required.
  • Monitor multiple shared inboxes and action any internal or external requests received on behalf of the Human Resources Department.
  • Act as a key point of contact for Recruitment Coordinators, providing guidance and delegating tasks as needed to support recruitment activities.

Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

 

Work Experience:

  • Two to three years in a human resources administrative role, preferably in the industrial or construction sector.
  • One year of recruiting-related experience in Construction sector, with preference for prior union environment exposure.
  • Previous experience working with an online Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Previous experience working in high volume recruitment is an asset.

 

Education:

  • Related Office Administration Diploma/Certificate, supplemented by specialized training or equivalent experience in Human Resources (recruiting, learning and development, compensation and benefits, or employee relations).
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Excellent Communication Skills (spoken/written/grammar/punctuation)
  • Service and results oriented; proactive approach to recruitment and projects.
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines; set priorities
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office (intermediate or advanced in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Ability to deescalate conflict over the telephone.
