Position Scope

We are seeking a Technical Recruitment Advisor to support our Human Resources team.

 

As a member of the human resources team, the Technical Recruitment Advisor will be focused on supporting the  Company’s recruitment needs for technical positions, with a primary focus on the trades.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Create and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract and retain top technical talent.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with client groups to gain a good understanding of the department and overall company culture and utilize this to best fill recruitment vacancies.
  • Oversee all external industry and third-party relationships involved with the attraction and retention of technical (Heavy Equipment Technician) positions.
  • Use applicant tracking system (currently iCIMS) and HRIS (currently JD Edwards) to oversee and create recruiting reporting metrics and provide recommendations for additional reports/metrics as required. 
  • Provide a qualified candidate pool by sourcing, identifying and recommending candidates to fill current and upcoming job openings in the region.
  • Coordinate the selection and hiring process, including appropriate paperwork, from application to hire. This also would involve securing and verifying technical tickets.
  • Develop an understanding of current and future manpower needs, research best practices and emerging trends and anticipate and react to shortages.
  • Source qualified candidates to fill current and upcoming openings by determining best method(s) for recruiting.
  • Design and place employment advertisements, post jobs, follow-up on employee referrals, research organizations or retain search firms as appropriate. 
  • Conduct university and college campus, trade school or other targeted job fairs to develop candidate pool. 
  • Ensure policies and practices are followed. 
  • Identify qualified candidates and make recommendations to hiring manager by screening resumes, interviewing, checking references and ranking candidates. 
  • Review and evaluate candidates’ work history, education training and other qualifications to meet the Company’s qualifications. 
  • Arrange for interviews of selected applicants, as necessary.
  • Explain job duties/responsibilities, compensation and benefit programs, work schedule or special conditions, career and advancement opportunities and related information. 
  • Extend employment offers to successful candidates.

 

 

Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • University Degree or College Diploma with background with focus on Human Resources preferred; 
  • Mechanical and trades specific recruitment experience;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in recruiting, with 2 years’ technical recruiting;
  • Union environment exposure preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of recruitment and selection practices and theories.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, learning and motivation.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees and managers.
  • Service and results oriented; proactive approach to recruiting and projects.
  • Ability to occasionally travel, as required. 
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
