Position Scope

This position is located at Kearl and will work very closely with NACG and Imperial Oil. 


Shift: 10x10

Accomodations:  Camp is provided

Transportation: Flights to and from Edmonton or Calgary



  • Assist in managing incidents
  • Provide coaching on ride along trips for struggling operators.
  • Tracking the vacation in Excel
  • Helping manage vacation requests
  • Transportation of employees around site/camp when newly hired, when sick, after incidents, etc.
  • Meeting and greeting new hires at the flight center
  • Participate in Imperial safety programs
    • Provide coaching on ‘Everybody Gets Home Safe’ cards, JSAs and Pocket JSAs
  • Speak occasionally at the imperial safety meetings
  • Manage coveralls
  • Communication with Imperial’s dispatch
  • Relay workers’ feedback to Imperial’s supervision
  • Manage time sheets
  • Manage sign in and sign out sheets
  • Help manage HR issues
  • Operator training
  • Discipline
  • Tracking the employee's written discipline records in a database.
  • Human Resource issues (promotions, terminations)


  • Five years experience in any construction supervisory capacity.
  • Must have Oil Sands Mining experience with 797s and/or cable shovels
  • Experience with Overburden, Pipe/Culvert installation, road construction and etc.
  • Construction supervisory courses or equivalent experience related to supervision of construction operations.
  • Mentor fellow workers and lead by example.
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence.
  • Familiar with Human Resources procedures.
  • Excellent people skills to smooth over small issues with the workers and Imperial in the field.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable with public speaking.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to work irregular hours if required. 



All successful candidates must:


  1. Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  2. Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  3. Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  4. Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
    1. Breath Alcohol Test
    2. Urine Drug Test

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.


All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

  1. Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  2. Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
  3. VOID cheque/direct deposit form
