    Position Scope

    The Server & Networking Specialist will support the administrative, planning, operational, and technical aspects of a 7 x 24 X 365 environment. The Specialist will be responsible for ensuring high levels of performance, availability and security of the server and network technology. The Specialist will lead, support, mentor and train team members on existing and planned infrastructure solutions.


    The Specialist will lead the Technical Change Process and work with team members to ensure that proposed changes meet high standards of due diligence in planning, testing, implementation and post implementation reviews.


    The primary purpose of this position is to support the entire information technology environment, resolving technical problems and operational issues and providing general technical support.


    • Install, configure, secure, maintain and manage 7 x 24 x 365 technology server and networking systems and related applications.
    • Lead and execute new project initiatives / tasks, providing regular status updates to key stakeholders
    • Oversee systems by taking ownership of infrastructure requests, and interfacing with team members and business stakeholders to see projects/tasks through to completion
    • Execute strategies for network, workstation and server implementations; implement the infrastructure required to support those strategies.
    • Design, review and perform technical test plans to ensure functionality and quality of proposed solutions
    • Coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the workstation and server environments.
    • Perform compliance testing for processes and procedures, as required.
    • Perform problem diagnosis, troubleshoot, and manage through to resolution, hardware and system software problems.
    • Collaborate with analysts, application developers, and system owners in the testing of programs, applications, and interoperability.
    • Provide weekend support based on a rotation-based on-call schedule.
    • On-site work week with on-call availability (weekend).
    • Ensure the continual improvement of the knowledge base, while assisting with the improvement of process deficiencies May perform other related duties as assigned


    • At least five years’ work experience in a comparable position responsible for managing server environments
    • Administrating Microsoft products Active Directory, Exchange, File Servers and SharePoint
    • Administrating VMware virtualization environment
    • System Automation an asset
    • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related field
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Direct knowledge of Exchange Hybrid and Office 365
    • Direct knowledge of backup, replication technologies as they relate to Disaster Recovery planning and testing
    • Industrial construction and/or mining industry experience is an asset
    • Microsoft Server MCSA or MCSE certifications
    • VMware VCA or VCP certifications
    • Linux Systems skills an asset
    • Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIS certifications
    • Strong Understanding of scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, etc) as they relate to administration and automation
    • Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in resolving technical issues
    • Experience supporting customers and providing high quality customer service
    • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
    • Self-motivator with the ability to work on an individual basis and in a team environment
    • Able to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment without supervision
    • Occasional travel to remote data centers and/or offices
    • Travel to NACM remote offices/sites will be required
    • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines or perform special projects
