    Position Scope

    This position is based out of our Acheson office.


    • Prepare, process and review weekly and/or semi-monthly payrolls for assigned payroll entities.
    • Interpret and adhere to all company policies, government regulations, as well as SOX controls relative to payroll processing.
    • Prepare and process Employee Garnishments.
    • Provide support to the sites with regard to payroll enquiries.
    • Prepare adhoc reports as requested and respond to routine questions from employees, internal and external customers.
    • Interpret and ensure strict adherence to all payment terms of statutory requirements and project agreements.
    • Assist in CRA remittances.
    • Assist in processing month end burden accruals.
    • Assist in the Payroll Year End process (T-4s, Annual returns, reconciliations and filings).
    • Adhere to all SOX controls with respect to proper authorization of payments and processes as set out within current Business Controls System.
    • Responsible for performing SOX controls for the Payroll Processing area to ensure they meet internal and external audit requirements.



    • 1-2 years experience in a payroll administration position with exposure to unionized payroll preferred.
    • Experience with JD Edwards payroll module preferred.
    • Roe Web and Roe completion in high volume department an asset.
    • Payroll Year End experience required up to and including T-4 completion.
    • Payroll Account reconciliation experience an asset.
    • Experience in the use of time interfaces such as JDE or other Excel based interfaces.
    • Post-secondary Education in the business area an asset.
    • Level 1 towards a PCP designation through the Canadian Payroll Association preferred.  Equivalencies will be considered with respect to relative experience in payroll and/or post-secondary education in Accounting or Human Resources.
